Tuned In: Lady Gaga Has a New Album On the Way

Lady Gaga Arrives In Auckland

Not too long ago, Elton John confessed that he worries about his close friend Lady Gaga, as she works herself down to the bone on an extremely limited diet. But at least it's productive masochism at play, as the Mother Monster has just announced she's already completed a third full-length album that could be in stores by the end of the year. No, she just doesn't quit.

Also in music news, Justin Bieber is a villain in the UK, Frank Ocean has finally announced a U.S. tour, The-Dream admits he lied for Gwyneth Paltrow, and Rihanna is a master of simile.

Lady Gaga is prone to bragging about how naturally songwriting comes to her, and it's clear why: She's a freaking powerhouse. Though the pop star is currently touring through Asia on her Born This Way Ball, she's already planning the release of yet another album. On Friday morning, she tweeted, "Exciting news little monsters! I've played my new record for my label and will be announcing my new Album Title in September! X."

One of the only people to have heard Gaga's newest work is her former collaborator and current opening act, Lady Starlight, but she hasn't offered up any details yet. It'll be interesting to see which direction Gaga takes this latest work, given the fascinating (and not entirely satisfying) shift in her sound from The Fame Monster to Born This Way. Hopefully she'll offer up another meme-tastic album cover while she's at it.

Rolling Stone notes that Gaga's U.S. dates for the Born This Way Ball have not yet been announced, so it's likely that North American dates will be restructured to include the new material.

  • The world can be a cruel, cruel place for teen idols. Justin Bieber was awarded the less-than-flattering Villain of the Year award by UK music mag Kerrang! this week, 'cause there are no music snobs quite like British music snobs.
